The Placement season is fast approaching! Anxiety levels are at it's zenith. This anxiety is not just with the students' but also with the heads of institutions. Especially, the B-school community is one that is most worried. How about, what I call 'Gamification of Placements'!?
Keeping rest of the Placement Process static; consider the following:
- Beginning of the Placement Season, each student / candidate / aspirant is allotted 1000 points.
- As a second step, the Placement Team can set a category of companies based on certain set criteria. Each category will be allotted certain set points for applying. We can broadly have 4 categories:
- Category A: 200 points
- Category B: 150 points
- Category C: 100 points
- Category D: 50 points
- Prior to actual visit of the company (physically / virtually); aspirant is informed about the Category of the Company along with the Job Profile / Description. Appropriate information ought to be shared, so that the student can make an informed decision.
- Now the aspirant can apply based on the points available in his /her virtual bucket.
Additional points can be added to his/her virtual bucket. This can be at the discretion of the Head of Institution; viz. if the student has certain significant achievements. Then, he/she may be awarded additional points. This may be again granted category wise:
- International: 250 points
- National: 150 points
- State / Local: 100 points
- Institute: 50 points
Some additional considerations:
- No. of Categories and Points allotted can be amnded as and when the need arises.
- Disciplinary action can be by virtue of deducting the points from the student bucket.
- Head of Institution may be granted power of awarding maximum 250 points per student.
- Placement Head / Faculty can be granted power of awarding maximum 100 points per student (Max 4 Students).
